On Friday 8 May, the first encounter of this year’s 4 Cubes backgammon interclub tournament in Belgium was played. Both teams agreed to meet at the Sandeman club in Ghent.
4 Cubes featured a clash between 4 Cubes Antwerp and 4 Cubes Bruges.
Antwerp fielded Inge, Kris, Rachid, and Hasan, while Bruges was represented by Line, Yannick, Joseph, and Christian.
After the first round, the score was tied at 2–2, leaving everything still possible.
In the second round, Antwerp gained the upper hand by winning three out of four matches. This gave Antwerp a 5–3 lead going into the third and final round.
Bruges therefore needed to win at least three of the four matches in the last round to stay in contention. Unfortunately for Bruges, the round ended in a draw. Kris Claeys delivered an outstanding performance by winning all three of his games.

Antwerp 7 – Bruges 5
Antwerp will now be facing Ghent in the next round.
