  • BIC 2026: A Dominant Victory for Geert Van der Stricht

    Saturday & Sunday, May 30-31 2026, Ghent, Belgium

    On Saturday 30 May and Sunday 31 May, the Belgian Individual Backgammon Championship (BIC 2026) was held at the Sandeman Club in Ghent.

    The tournament consisted of nine 9-point matches: five rounds on Saturday and four on Sunday. It was a demanding weekend requiring complete focus, concentration, and endurance from every participant.

  • 4 Cubes Backgammon Tournament – Antwerp vs Bruges

    Friday, May 8th 2026, Ghent, Belgium

    On Friday 8 May, the first encounter of this year’s 4 Cubes backgammon interclub tournament in Belgium was played. Both teams agreed to meet at the Sandeman club in Ghent.

    4 Cubes featured a clash between 4 Cubes Antwerp and 4 Cubes Bruges.

    Antwerp fielded Inge, Kris, Rachid, and Hasan, while Bruges was represented by Line, Yannick, Joseph, and Christian.

    After the first round, the score was tied at 2–2, leaving everything still possible.

    In the second round, Antwerp gained the upper hand by winning three out of four matches. This gave Antwerp a 5–3 lead going into the third and final round.

    Bruges therefore needed to win at least three of the four matches in the last round to stay in contention. Unfortunately for Bruges, the round ended in a draw. Kris Claeys delivered an outstanding performance by winning all three of his games.

    Final Score

    Antwerp 7 – Bruges 5


    Antwerp will now be facing Ghent in the next round.

  • Gent Open XIX 7 March 2026

    Saturday, March 7 2026, Ghent, Belgium

    On Saturday, March 7 2026, the backgammon community gathered again for another
    enjoyable edition of the Gent Open, welcoming 37 players for a full day of 7 point
    backgammon matches played over 7 rounds.
    Players from three categories participated together in one single Swiss tournament, but
    separate rankings were made for the Masters, Advanced, and Beginners divisions.

    Sunday, Feb 8th, Leuven – On Sunday 8 February all BGFed members were invited to the Leuven open, organised in Squash clubs De Vaart by Odette, Peter and Henri. Toon as usual took the lead of the playing schedule. Some Pastry and Coffee were offered upon arrival.

  • Perspectives Day 2025 / annual BgFed meeting

    Nov 23 , Boom, Belgium — Report Perspectives Day 2025

    On Sunday 23/11/2025 perspectives day was organised by BGFed.be at the Premises of Ethnicraft NV in Boom. 23 BGFed.be players were present. The meeting was combined with a 3 – point tournament, which was won by Steven Segaert and Hasan Süngü.

    The meeting was held in 2 sessions of 45 minutes and all BGFed.be members were given the opportunity to send in questions and remarks beforehand. This input was the starting point of the discussions during the meeting. Members of all clubs were present except for the Club in Slijpe.

    Dear Backgammon friends,

  • BBBB-Sports Monthly

    Hello everybody,

    Recently, I’ve been approached by a number of players with requests to organize a monthly tournament in Brussels.

    The Black Beards are now launching BBBB-Sports Monthly as we’ve found a fabulous, accessible and bucolic place to play, with a terrace open in fine weather.

    Sunday December 8, 2024 will be our kick-off tournament at B.SPORTS! Address: 14 avenue de la Basilique, Sint Agatha Berchem.

    Venue

    The B.SPORTS club will welcome us once a month. This sports complex formerly belonged to the National Bank of Belgium and is located in Brussels near the ring and the highway exit from Oostende. The kitchen offers a full range of catering options at all times.

    • by bar: B.SPORTS is located at 14 avenue de la Basilique, Sint Agatha Berchem. You can easily park your car.
    • It’s also easy to reach by public transport: Trams 9 and 82, bus 20, Berchem Ste Agathe station, etc.

    Format and schedule

    We’ll play 5 rounds of 7 points. Pairings will be based on the Swiss system.

    • From 9 a.m.: Welcome. The bar will be open at 8.30 a.m., so you can enjoy a coffee as soon as you arrive.
    • Round 1: 10am
    • Round 2: 11:45 a.m.
    • Round 3: 1:30pm
    • Round 4: 3:15pm
    • Round 5: 5:00 pm

    Registration

    Reservations are mandatory: please send an e-mail to chantal.lensen@skynet.be.

    Price for the day: €10 to be paid on site (+ membership fee for the Belgian Backgammon Federation for non-members).

    In 2025, we’ll be playing on the first Sunday of every month. I’ll send out invitations the month before.

  • 15th Leuven Backgammon Open, Sun 10 Nov 2024

    The 15h Leuven Open will take place on Sunday, November 10, 2024, in Squash Club De Vaart, Kolonel Begaultlaan 15, 3012 Leuven, the same venue as for the Leuven Monthly tournaments.

    Please register in advance via the online registration form. The registration fee (including lunch) is €30 (for non-BGFed.be members it’s €40, the extra €10 including BGFed.be membership), to be paid not later than Monday November 4 by bank transfer to Backgammon Club Leuven, BE84 7360 4493 9659, mentioning “Leuven Open 2024”.

    Paulus van Rooijen invites you to participate in two exciting tournaments in two days:
