  • The Return of the Vlissingen Blitz Masters

    Paulus van Rooijen invites you to participate in three exciting tournaments in two days:

    On Saturday January 13, 2024: Vlissingen Masters, 5 rounds Swiss system, 9-point matches, 18 min. + 12 sec., to qualify for a play-off (last 8). We expect 60 participants of 10 nationalities who will play in two separate groups: Champions and Advanced, each with a play-off.

    On Sunday January 14, 2024: Play-off last 8 of each group (direct elimination). Superjackpot (direct elimination) 9-point matches, 18 min. + 12 sec. Speedgammon, (Swiss) 5-point matches, 2 min. + 10 sec.

    Venue: Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Arion, Boulevard Bankert 266, 4382AC Vlissingen, The Netherlands

  • Benelux Masters Antwerp postponed – New date and venue to be announced

    Paulus van Rooijen, tournament director of the Benelux Masters, asked me to announce that the Benelux Masters, which the past years has taken place the second weekend of January in Antwerp, will be rescheduled to a new date and a new venue — to be announced.

  • Misja Alma (NL) wins 11th Antwerp Masters

    In café De Bengel on the Grote Markt in Antwerp, 12 players gathered to compete for the 2015 Antwerp Master title. In Swiss format, 9 rounds had to be played (matches to 9 points). (more…)

  • 11th Masters Tournament, Antwerp, January 10-11, 2015

    Dear Backgammon Friends!

    You are invited to participate in the 11th Backgammon Masters Tournament in Antwerp, which will take place in the second weekend of January 2015.

    Saturday-Sunday, January 10-11, 2015
    Café “Den Bengel”, Grote Markt 5, B-2000 Antwerp

    9 rounds Swiss system. 9 point matches, digital clocks (18 minutes + 12 seconds).

    There is also an Amateur group on Sunday (January 11).
    System of play (Swiss system or round robin) will depend on the number of participants.
    They will play 5 point matches, without clocks.

    Please make your reservation in advance, because the number of participants has a certain maximum.

  • Paul Gilbertson and Paulus van Rooijen are the Masters of 2014

    Dear all,

    Last weekend (Jan 11-12, 2014) we played the Masters in Antwerp, Belgium. (See announcement.) I am very happy to send you the results.

    We had 21 players in the Masters Group, they played 9 rounds of 9 point matches in a straight Swiss system.
    Result:
    1/2 Paul Gilbertson, Paulus van Rooijen (7 out of 9)
    3/7 Rogier van Gemert, Michel Lamote, Walter Meuwis, Bert Van Kerckhove, Johan Segers (6 out of 9)

    We also had 9 players in the Amateur Group, they played a round robin of 5 point matches and a final.
    Result:
    1. Cem Fidan 6 out of 8
    2. Nabil Antoun 6 out of 8
    3. George Voinea 5 out of 8
    4. Louise Vellekoop 5 out of 8
