In total 17 players showed up for the 7th edition of the Gent Open Backgammon tournament. The tournament format was 7 rounds Swiss, matches to 7 points, with clock (Bronstein, 12 minutes per match plus 12 seconds per move). (more…)
On Sunday 25 March a small but fairly strong field of players (12) took part in the 3rd Rotterdam Supersunday of 2012. Among them, Rogier Van Gemert, Paul Van Koningshoven, Hans-Willem Capel and Bert Van Kerckhove (winner of last month’s Supersunday) stood out as favorites. (more…)

In Round 1 of the 4 Cubes 2012, played on Friday, March 9, in the University Snooker & Pool, Heverlee, the Backgammon Club Leuven defeated the team from Brussels 6-3. The victory was celebrated by a bottle of cava offered by the home team. (more…)
Due to the traffic jams caused by the heavy snowfall on Friday, February 3, the Brussels Friendly 11 was cancelled. The draw for the 4 Cubes 2012 calendar was done at Guy Van Middelem’s, with assistance of Guy’s wife Marie-France. See the full calendar for details.

The 4 Cubes is the name of the Belgian backgammon interclub competition. As of 2012, it will be set up as a single round-robin between teams of 3 players or more. Teams can register until Sunday, January 29. The draw is to take place on the Brussels Friendly of February 3. For more information, check out the 4 Cubes webpage. The current holder of the 4 Cubes trophy and the title of Belgium’s Best Backgammon Club is Ghent.
