The yearly tournament at Zandvoort-aan-zee is held in a spacious pavilion situated on a broad beach.  On beautiful days the sea breeze can waft through the pavilion and on chillier days, the pavilion can be closed off with canvas.  In short, a great location.  Moreover, a super buffet is set up for dinner and the staff is exceptionally friendly.  In short, I regret not having competed there this year, but will certainly do so at the 5th edition in 2016.

Only Bert Van Kerckhove (Ghent BC) made the 3-hour trip (I hopped in later in the day) and found himself in a worthy field of Dutch and German players.    Bert succeeded in winning three 13-pointers in a row, which brought him to the final.  There he was beaten by Paul Van Koningshoven, who sent some speculative cubes Bert’s way, but was rewarded with good dice.

An encourageing result for Bert, who is also steadily climbing up the BGFed-ranking.  It looks like Bert has his eyes on the number 3 spot…
